John Alford and William Alford, apparently original immigrants, possibly brothers, both granted land in New Kent Co, VA, in 1682, on the south side of the York River along the Upper Road. They both lived in St. Peters Parish, and both died there in 1709/10; William on 11 February, John on 14 March. John's wife may have been named Lettice, and he received payment for the care of a parish child in 1682 and again in 1689. One of these had a son: |

James Alford (c.1685-c.1721) or (c.1687-c.1730) appears in the Register of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virginia. James helped care for a parish child in 1712. His sons disappear from the records of New Kent County by 1739. |
